I have no idea of when I’m supposed to send ‘Save Your Date’ invitation. My sister told me the earlier the better, I’m just kinda worrying of they might forget if I send it half year before? Can any of you guys who experienced it give me some advices?

I think it depends on the wedding! We are having a destination wedding in New Orleans and we sent our STD’s out 10 months in advance… I think a year is usually the earliest you should send them out though

Anytime a year to 6 months is more than fine. Error on the earlier side if you have alot of out of towners invited or having a destination wedding.

I’d send it as soon as I was 110% sure about the wedding date, particularly if you have a lot of Out of Town guests like we did. A lot of our guests really appreciated the early warning – a lot of people need to get time off far in advance and save for airfare and so on.

I’m going to be sending mine in about a month for my October wedding. We are having a ton of Out of Town guests so I thought the earlier the better for this one!

We are having our wedding in late august and are sending ours out at the beginning of January. Just make sure you dont send out your STD’s to people that are on your maybe list!

We opted for “earlier is better”, and sent them ~10 months ahead of time.
But for us, my family memeber live scattered across the country; and several our friend will be coming from overseas.
We didn’t have an engagement party, nor a date set when we called everyone to announce our engagement – so our Save The Dates is our way of notifying everyone when we seldom see them in person: and we received really positive responses.

We just sent ours out last Monday….. The feedback I got from the people that received it was that it was a GREAT idea and that some people have to put in their leave slips in January for the YEAR….. and since we are getting married during 4th of July week, it was a great reminder!!!

My wedding is OCT 2012 and 95% of our guests are from out of town so I will be sending mine right after the holiday!

I was always led to believe that anytime up until 6 months before the wedding date is appropriate. I missed the cut off date 🙁 Oh well….

Wow, I’m glad I read this, I thought 4-6 months was the traditional time frame. We had our date picked out about 2 weeks after we got engaged, and the wedding is about 11 months away, so maybe we should be thinking about sending them soon after the holidays.

I think I’m supposed to send out the invitation in about 2months.
