I was watching Anderson and he had Dolly Parton on as a guest. One of the things she said was that she always dresses up at home around her husband (hair/makeup). She says she goes to the trouble to dress up for stranger/public, why wouldn’t she get done up for her husband.
Granted, it’s Dolly Parton 😉 but it got me thinking… the first thing I do when I get home is throw on my comfy clothes… kind of a version of PJ’s – workout pants and a comfy top or t-shirt. Darling Husband pretty much does the same.
I remember going over to a married friends house maybe ten years ago and she opened the door in a similar outfit. I distinctly remember thinking “I can’t believe she looks so sloppy around her husband”…. and, now, I’m doing the same thing.
So… it got me thinking – do you dress up, dress down, or dress the same when you are at home at night with DH?

Comfort trumps fashion here, every time.

I don’t dress “fashionably” at home, but I do like to slip on something sexy when it’s just us. =) After 10 years I still love to “seduce” my Fiance… especially if I’m just watching TV and eating chips, I’m going to look glamourous doing it hahaha

neither of us have ever tried to impress the other on a daily basis with our looks. Soooo pajamas/loungewear

I dont even change out of my PJ’s if I’m at home all day.

Yoga pants and a tank top/tee shirt/hoodie. I never dress up at home, ever.

Sometimes I will dress up for him, but when we’re just chilling it’s for comfort.

It’s all pajama pants and t-shirts in our house. You should hear the complaining when we need to go out for something and have to put on “real pants”.

The second Darling Husband gets home he kicks off his shoes and socks, takes off his pants and puts on a t-shirt. I’ll usually hang around in my work clothes longer but we definitely go for comfort over style.

Yoga pants and t shirts usually, he likes that anyway. If I make him something special for dinner I will do my makeup and hair and stuff, I dunno why. Since I’ve been pregnant I rarely wear pants haha, he loves that.

I usually wear jeans and a cute top, and my hair and makeup are done, not full out done, but brushed/straightened hair, and a little foundation, eye shadow, eye liner. The only time I am completely un-done is when I am sick, even then, I hate my hair in its natural state, if I still blow dry it.

Either sweatpants/short and a t-shirt or… well, not sweatpants/shorts and a t-shirt, haha. I don’t dress up if I’m going to be home lounging around. He usually lounges around in his boxers.

On weekends, I always shower and put on something nicer than pajamas (randomly it’s usually a dress because I think dresses are more comfortable than jeans). I also always put on makeup, even if we don’t have any plans. But sometimes we lounge around all morning and into the afternoon. In that case, I’ll at least wash my face, put makeup on, and put something other than pajamas on by 1 pm or so.
My reasoning in trying to look nice isn’t for him at all. It’s what I’ve always done, even when I lived alone. Wearing makeup and nicer clothes have always made me feel like I at least haven’t totally wasted my day.
He gets home from work much later than me on weekdays, though, so I’m always in pajamas by the time he gets home.

@linguo42: exactly the same! even when we order food in there is an argument about who has to put real pants on to answer the door.

My standard at home uniform: yoga pants, v-neck t-shirts, hoodies and slippers
