Don’t you guys love it when projects double in cost?
So I’m working on getting all of my wedding cards bound together in a book. I know many people keep them in a box or something similar (but I know I would never take them out and look at them) or cut them up and scrapbook them (I didn’t want to destroy the cards) but I found this company in Australia who will hand-stich them together and bind them into a book. I was excited!
So according to the website, it was going to cost me about $120 for the book plus the shipping. The owner estimated the shipping would be close to $20 (that was double the $10 for shipping within Australia). So I ordered!
Well, when I went to ship the cards to him, it cost me $40! I was shocked at how high it was but at this point I really wanted this book so I said oh well. He got the cards successfully, made the book, and then when he went to look at shipping it back to me, found that it was going to cost $58. I kind of figured as much after what it cost me to send the cards – but it still kind of sucks. Plus there is a $9 US customs fee I have to pay. Whatever – the book was done and would be heading to me shortly.
The only thing I had left to do was send him a wire transfer with the money for the book-binding and shipping. I went to the bank today to do the wire transfer over lunch and the wire transfer costs another $45! But alas – the money has now been sent.
All I can say is that this book had better look awesome because my $140 project has now turned into almost $280!!
