We ended up booking ours about 9-10 months out. We fell in love with them at a bridal show and booked a consultation right then.

I’d start looking now and try to book one by early February for a July wedding, if not sooner. Holidays can be a really busy time for florists, so I’d want to get initial meetings out of the way before Thanksgiving.

Also, some florists may raise prices after the new year, so the sooner you can lock in a quote, the better.

I have ready booking them 4 – 5 months out but that doesn’t seem like enough time to me. I’m a big believer in the sooner the better, once you know who/what you’d like. They can only take so many weddings in a weekend too.

The florist was actually the last thing we booked. I probably waited a little too long, but it turned out okay because the florist I wanted was available. I’d say try to have it booked by 5-6 months out if possible.

We booked ours at 4 months out, but only had a 4 month engagement.

@Gemstone:  +1, same here.  I had trouble with my first florist, so I suddenly 6 months out I had to go looking for a new one!  That was the last thing we booked.

@mchitt329:  I know this makes me weird, but for some reason, flowers weren’t at the top of my priority list, so it ended up being one of the last things I did, and it all ended up okay. I think we book ours about four months out with no problems.

We booked our florist at 10 months, right after we signed the contract for our venue (which we actually put a “deposit” on at 12 months). I saw their work at 2 separate events, they did great, so I was eager to sign with them. Good luck!!

I went for a consultaion about a month ago…but with it being in Feb and a sm city, not really a big problem, I’m thinking in the middle of the summer you might want to start

I booked my florist last month for May, so that’s like 8 months out? Start looking now if you haven’t already.
