@onesweetworld:  I was only engaged for 9 months but even then it was a little rush to find a venue/date and a photographer and then we pretty much relaxed until the dress needed to be bought about 7 months before and then again no major planning until about 4 months out. I’d say if you know you want a particular venue for SURE book that now and you can probably just hang out until about a year/year and a half out.

Good question, my wedding is 3 years away.  Can’t wait to see some answers because my fingers are twitching to get my hands on a dress, flowers and everything else.  I constantly have to remind myself that I have 3 whole years to do it all! lol

Check what venues you like and how fast they book out – once you have the venue you are set – the hard part is over.

When it comes to the dress – you need to check with the shop how far in advance you have to order the dress.

with my shoes the website takes 2-3 weeks to deliver. I guess with everything it depends on the poularity – I only just booked my hair in and my wedding is in May 2013 – due to the fact that my hairdresser is popular.

Remember order  a cpl extra weeks in advance to allow for late order delivery and possible alterations.

WORD OF ADVICE – if the wedding professionals you have to deal with are hard to communicate with or take ages to get back to you – it is best to avoid picking them. That way you avoid all wedding stress!!.

P.S I got engaged this Jan – and booked the venue in about feb/march of this year for may next year(May 11). The dress shop I am going with requires me to order the dres in september to be here in time for alterations etc and to have time up my sleeve incase it arrives late

@alyssaC:  lucky girl! time to save money ๐Ÿ™‚ you may change your mind if you book or buy too early ๐Ÿ™‚ but make a book and cut out of magazines what you like for cake, hair,make-up, decor etc.

@LollyQ:  Yep thats what were waiting for, money.  And yeah I have one paper folder and one computer folder of pictures and ideas.  I am definatly afraid of regretting anything and that is whats really stopping me from going wedding crazy.  I think I’m gonna let my self buy small things here and there once I reach a year and a half and then once I get to the year mark nothing will be able to stop me ๐Ÿ™‚
