Hey Girls,
This may be a stupid question, but if my wedding is April 24th by when should I tell people they need to respond?
thanks

I’d go with April 1st.
When do you need final numbers for your caterer? That will make a difference in your RSVP date but April 1st does sound good for your date
When does your final count need to be in to your venue? I’d go with 1-2 weeks before that deadline so you have time to hunt down people who don’t RSVP.
We did ours 15 days before the event. But if it’s a non-destination wedding anywhere from a month to 15 days before works.
I did a month before the wedding date, but that’s for several reasons 1) the venue is 2 hours from our hometown, 2) the caterer requires a final headcount 2 weeks before the date, and I know there will be stragglers, and 3) it stresses me out a little less to have plenty of time to get everyone’s yay or nay on attending.
Our wedding is October 16, I am putting RSVP by September 16 on the invite. I don’t think it’s too much to ask of people to know if they are coming to our wedding a month before hand. It gives me more time to get final count for caterer, seating chart etc. and be less stressed about having to call non RSVPers!
I think April 1st would work…then if you wanted to you could say:”Please respond by April Fool’s Day.”
I just remember Mrs. Lovebug doing that for her April wedding and always thought that was really cute!
A lot of people won’t know if they’re coming until like two weeks out, so I would say RSVP by April 10th. Any sooner, and I think a lot of people just won’t send them. (We had to call everyone to make sure they sent back their RSVP. They were prestamped people, come on!)
Depends on when you need your final head count by. I am asking for ours back by June 5, two weeks before we need our head count. You need to have time to make phone calls to follow up on people before giving a count to the venue or caterer.
We’re asking for ours to be back about 3.5 weeks before our wedding date because we have to get the final head count to the caterer 2 weeks before and that gives us 1.5 weeks to harass people into responding! 😀 I also think it depends on how many people you’re inviting from out of town – they tend to have to decide earlier b/c they’ll need to book flights, etc.
