So my wedding will be in August 2013. I’ve read online that the best time to buy is between thanksgiving and christmas. That’s when there is the biggest sale or so. However, I’ve narrowed down to a few dresses I love and would like to get it over with already. I was going to buy it tomorrow but my friend told me I could wait til November. To all the bees out there, do you think there is a big price difference in the dress from now til november? I’ve heard it takes somewhere from 5 to 7 months to get your dress in. I still have almost 11 months away. Should I rush into this?

@Shoppe: I’m an August 2013 bride and I bought my dress in January (awesome deal on a used dress). I would make your final decision on which dress you want, and then keep an eye out for sales in the next couple months just in case you can save some money. I don’t know that there will be a big price difference unless there is a sample sale or you decide to find it used.

@asscherlover: Right now there’s a 10% off. At another salon, there’s a free veil with dress purchase. My fiance thinks that the big sale during the holiday would only apply to sample sale. I’m 5’1 105lbs so I wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the sample sale anyway. However, I don’t know if there will be a bigger discount later on on new dress.

@Shoppe: I wouldn’t take the free veil because the simple ones are super cheap/easy to make (like under $20). And the ones that are on etsy that have lace/beading that are really nice.

I bought mine a year before my wedding. I think most dresses take around 5 or 6 months (or more, or less, depending on the designer). Make sure you leave time for alterations too 🙂

Yeah, it’s like 6 months for the dress to come in and then 2 months for alterations. So you have less time than you think you do.
