I color my hair (I’ve got greys).
But this time I’m doing it professionally, I’m taking my usual color bottle to a professional.
I don’t know how many days before to do it. I know I should do it at least two days before, that’s what I’ve always been told. It’s permanent color but still it can wash out a little if I wash my hair the day after I color it. I always wash three days later to be on the safe side. So, as my wedding is on a Saturday, I was going to get it colored on Wed. evening. But now it turns out I have appointments Wed. eve. and would have to go earlier on Wed. and I’m not sure I can. So now I’m wondering if two days before the wedding is okay. Keep in mind they’d be washing my hair early the morning of the wedding. So in a way it’s less than two days. They’d be washing my hair about 8 a.m. and I know I wouldn’t be up on Thursday at a salon that early! 🙂
In other words, my hair would get colored Thursday and be washed Saturday morning. Otherwise, I’d have to do it early Wed. and I’m no early bird, 🙁 though I’ll do it if I have to. 🙁
What do you think?

I was told to do it no later than 2 weeks before the wedding – what if something goes wrong and they need time to correct it? If you do it three days before the wedding, that doesn’t leave enough time for correcting it. I get highlights and a color glaze, and that’s what my colorist recommended.

I would go in 1 week before the wedding – – Hey ask Mrs Nachos she is the queen of hair knowledge, I’m sure she’ll have a great answer for ya

I’m not going for them to use one of their colors. I’m giving them the same color bottle I always use. I’m bringing it to a professional this time to make sure it’s absolutely perfectly applied. Actually the earlier it’s applied, the worse b/c my roots grow fast (my greys start showing). It needs to be reapplied every three weeks.
I’ve already had my trial run so my makeup has already been picked out so they said don’t change the hair color I already use. So I can’t use any other hair color or treatment, etc.
So I guess I’m asking: should I get it colored Wed. or Thurs…remember they’re using a Duane Reade (Loreal Superior Preference) bottle….:)

I think Wednesday, but keep in mind that I have no real knowledge of this.

I had mine done two weeks before…

I would say Wednesday so the color has time to set while still being bright and having the “new hair dye” look still. Thursday might be pushing it, when you will probably have plenty of other things to worry about. I will probably get mine dyed no more than a week in advance of my wedding…I like it when it is still really rich and “just colored”.
