@TwoStatesBride: We’re having dual purpose Thank You Cards / Wedding Annoucements printed for just this purpose.  Outside our pictures… inside We Eloped !!  We will enclose words of Thanks for those that came to our Back Home Reception / Brought us a gift… and send them to others who didn’t hear the news thru direct channels (far flung friends & relatives) or those that didn’t make it to the Party.

That way, everyone gets a nice card… and a pic of us to keep as well.

Our wedding is 4/27 as well and I made the HUGE mistake of printing the invitations with a deadline of 4/15 🙁 🙁 Only 2 days before our venue needs the final headcount.  I will be calling on the deadline!!

I’d do it now! I am dreading finding out how many of my guests don’t have the common sense to stick to a deadline haha.

I would maybe start this weekend. Some people view the date given to RSVP by as the date they should put it in the mail by. How many people are you waiting to hear from?!

Our deadline is this Friday (our guest counts are due to the venue on the 2nd so they can make final changes to our budget).  I have already reminded everyone a few days ago that they are due and we still have more than half due back to us, lol.  We will be making calls this weekend, that’s for sure.

Folks – maybe this is controversial, but what’s wrong with not calling them and not saving a seat for them at the dinner. Then, they’ll know to take the next wedding seriously. That’s how I’m handling mine.

@MidwestMouse:  Because then you have to deal with them showing up? With no chairs? It’s just not something I’d want to even deal with.

@starz88962:  I agree with that. Some people get a little caught up and straggle by a few days, but ultimately you need to know the numbers! So dont feel bad about confronting people!

@MidwestMouse:  I wish that I could do that!!! It really irks me that people can’t simply write their name, check yes or no, and drop it in the mail!  It’s already addressed with a stamp so this shouldn’t be that hard.

Unfortunately for me, my venue requires a final headcount 10 days prior – if I come in under, I still pay for my Final number…if I come in over, they charge 1-1/2 per person that is over the final number.  So knowing whether or not someone is coming is essential to avoid throwing money away simply because some people can’t put a damn card in the mail!!
