biologistmommy:  I’d start prenatals now. It takes months for the folic acid to build up and there’s no harm in starting them early.

As far as the pill, everyone is different. I know several people who got pregnant right away, but it took a couple months for most. My best friend went off the pill in August and still hasn’t ovulated.

I went off on November and never got a withdrawal bleed. I had a 41 day cycle and now I’m on day 32 of this cycle and no positive.

As long as you aren’t dead set on a January baby, I’d take prenatal now and then go off the pill at the end of your April period.

If things don’t regulate and you feel out of control, consider charting after a few cycles. I find it really helps me and doesn’t impact our sex life at all.

As everyone mentioned, started the prenatals now. As far as BCP, I would get off as soon as possible. I’ve been off for 14 months and my cycles are just starting to regulate but are still 40+ days. My doctor who I saw throughout university told me not to worry about them impacting TTC but I wish I had gone off them a year before wanting to start trying. We basically wasted the first 9 months TTC due to irregular and super long cycles. Everyone is different, but I’d want to start being the hormones out of your system ASAP. The periods you are having now are regular because they are hormone induced. I was the same way and would have them 4 days after stopping my pill but it’s a different story when your body is producing its own hormones. Good luck!
