Darling Husband and I are wanting to TTC in 2013. Ideally (and I understand that it is much more likely to not go to plan), we’d love to have a baby in February-March-April of 2014 so I don’t have to drain my sick days and I could continue my maternity leave up until summer break. So, that would mean starting to TTC in May 2013.
I take birth control (Low-Ogestrol), and I just switched pills about 2-3 months ago. We always use a back-up form of protection. When do you think would be a good time to go off the pill? Also, to add to the fun of this game…I signed up for short term disability, but I can’t get pregnant until February 1st, 2012, otherwise it won’t take.
Any advice/suggestions would be much appreciated!

I’d recommend that you go off the pill at the end of January. But just keep in mind that it’s not that easy, it could take a while to get pregnant. Your body may need time to adjust coming off the pill. Unfortunately, you can’t guarantee you’ll get pregnant when you want to.
I’ve been off 3 months now, my body was regular right away but I’m still not pregnant.

I would say anytime, or early in the new year because it can take a while for your cycles to regulate but make sure you are vigilant about your back up method until you at least clear the February date.

@keepsmiling19: I’d say whenever, if you guys are using a back up form of birth control. Just stick with that for a while =)

Going along with what @Lyndzo Said. The first couple of months you may not ovulate(produce an egg) after coming off of BCP. This is my 2nd month TTC and I am still unsure if I am ovulating or not.

There is no answer, “they” say that if you miss one pill you could concieve but then “they” say that it usually takes 3 months for the hormone level to return to normal.

I had heard it takes up to a year when you get off the pill to get pregnant….we wanted to start TTC in a year so i got off the pill….two months later i was preggers!!! Everyone is different but another friend of mine got pregnant Her first month off of the pill…I would wait and stay on the pill until 2013 unless you want a pregnancy before then. (:

I got off BCP in September and my body is still regulating, so you never know how long that will take. I agree with some pp that if you use backup protection then you can stop taking it any time and give your body plenty of time to regulate. You could wait after all the holidays just to be safe.

Good advice, everyone! The only thing that would be bad if we got pregnant right now would be the fact that I would lose out on my short term insurance. I’m thinking one more pack after this one (that would put me at the end of January) and I’ll be finished! Thanks for all of the advice, everyone :-). Have a great night!
