I’m getting married in June of 2014 in the US, and about 1/3 of the guest list live in Europe.
When should we send them invitations? They will be receiving STDs in July (might be early but flights can cost $1000 so I wanna give them ample time!)
id like their invitations to go out earlier than invitations to the American guests, because I’m anticipating that many international guests won’t be able to come, in which case I can send out invitations to local guests who originally couldn’t be fit. Which month is it acceptable to send the invites in?

@AbeeCee123: I could have written that post, except our international guests are Canadian (mostly family), but still can be expensive flights. We too are sending STDs in July, and have a “B” list of locals. I was thinking at least 12 weeks before, with a 4 week RSVP for the international. I also have to keep in mind the international post can be much slower.
Curious for other’s thoughts.

Our guests are on the west coast of Canada and the East Coast of the US, we’re sending our STD’s out in July and our invitations probably mid-January so people may have time to make travel arrangements for sure.

I did 6 months in advance for out of state guests and 7 months for international guests… i had online/email RSVP so i left those same as the rest of the guests at 3 weeks before the wedding.

Huzzah, someone else who is thinking along the same lines! We’re getting married at the end of March and I”m hoping to get save the dates out in the next 4-6 weeks… the only problem is my mum looks at me like I’ve turned into a three headed monster when I pointed out it was probably time to start finalising the guest list & gatherine addresses for those. “But you have so much time!!!” she says” *whacks head against wall*. I’m anal retentive, I get it, but I want those things out!
As for invites, I’m thinking they’ll probably go out in January. I guess NZ to Australia isn’t quite as bad as having to fly from Europe to the US!

I did invites 6 months out for all guests because it was out of country or state for all of then. STD were sent out over a year in advance.
