@limegreenbride:  We are getting married that weekend as well, and we are aiming to send out our save the dates by early July.  It seems a bit early, but like you asked, we are choosing to send them out earlier because it is a holiday weekend.  We live near the Jersey Shore and we have a lot of friends that get beach houses over the summer, so we want them to be aware of the wedding date before they make their plans for next summer!  Better to send them out earlier if you are worried, in my opinion 🙂  good luck!

I sent mine out for a Destination Wedding about 6 months out.  Then again, everyone who was interested in going already knew the date.

I’ve received Save-The-Date Cards a year out and honestly, if it’s Out of Town, it’s too early to make flight reservations…plus, I don’t really make any plans more than 6 months out.  But that’s just me.

If I were your “guest”, I’d appreciate 6 months notice….especially since DH’s job requires him to “block” out expected leave/vacation at the beginning of every year.

We’re getting married Labor Day weekend this year, and we sent out save the dates at the 6 month mark.  I would aim for 6-8 months, if I were you.

A lot of our guests are out of town and travel frequently (meaning their schedules are booked far in advance), so we sent them out about 11 months beforehand.

I’m getting married on Labor Day weekend of 2013 and I’m planning to send the save the dates in late Sept or October of this year (so not quite a year ahead of time). I want to give people as much warning as possible since it’s a holiday weekend but I think they should be sent less than a year in advance. Really anything between 6-12 months is fine.

depends on how firm you are on your date.  if you don’t want to send out save the dates early, you can always casually letting people know what your date will be, so they have an idea.

I’d say six months minimum, but not 10 months or more (I once received a STD for a wedding that was happening in two years!). We’re sending ours out eight months beforehand because more than half of our guests do not live in our state and do not know the date prior.

Mmmm… I’m from NJ and Mem Day weekend is a big one (we’re headed down on Friday, yay), but I doubt anyone will be ready to deal with it if you send them out now. I’d aim for September for sure.
