I started planning as soon as I got engaged. We booked all the big stuff already: hall, photographer/videographer, transportation, DJ. Now we have time to take care of the little things. We are booking our church in the next couple of weeks. I got my dress.

I booked early so that I can enjoy our engagement, and also because our vendors get booked fairly quickly, they are already booking for 2013!! So we acted fast.

@FEFE215: I would get the reception hall, officiant/ceremony location booked now, to ensure you can get your date. Then everything falls into place. I had church/reception hall/date in stone within 3 weeks of getting engaged, and we had 15 month engagement

@FEFE215:Yes you should! We’re being married October 27th 2012 and are meeting with the coordinator at the ceremony venue this Sunday. If all is well we’re going to put the deposit down. Soon after we will book our reception hall too. Those are the two things you NEED to get done like ASAP.

I started planning as soon as we got engaged. So about a year and four months before our wedding. Your almost a year away, Im thinking its the perfect time to start for you. There is just so much that goes into wedding planning that you want to give yourself plenty of time to do it all!!
