I have 2 kittens aged 10 months they are still on kitten food and I think I should be swItching them to adult food but I’m not sure when this should be done. Advice?
And of course I had to add an adorable pic of them lounging in their room 🙂

At around a year old you can switch to adult food. To make the transition smoother and avoid any potential digestive upset you can gradually mix in the new food with the old before switching to all new food.

sweetchiquita12: I switched my kitten at about 6 months. My vet recommended it, since kitten food is so high in fat, and since I already had an adult cat and they pretty much ate each other’s food all the time anyway.

bbbria: I had no idea kitten food was so much higher in fat! thats good to know cause my one cat is getting very large so maybe I should switch them after this last bag of kitten food!

It’s generally best to keep them on kitten food for one year. Are you free-feeding? Free-feeding promotes overeating and obesity. It’s better to feed them two or three small, measured meals per day.
