Just curious, when do bridal shower invitations typically get sent? My BMs, both my sisters, are co-hosting my shower with one of my best friends. It’s at BFF’s house and she’s done most of the planning. My sisters are helping out though, and one offered to do the invites. They have been sort of spacy regarding wedding things and nearly missed the deadline for ordering their dresses which caused me more stress than I care to think about. Anyway…the shower is May 5 and my sister mentioned she’d order the invites today. Meaning, they wouldn’t get sent until next week some time.
Does that seem like short notice or is that normal? The wedding is June 7, so the shower is about a month in advance. We’ve already sent our invitations a month ago so everyone knows when the wedding is. Do shower invites usually go out before wedding invites? The shower list is about 20 people, four of whom live out of state and are unlikely to come anyway. But maybe would have with more notice?
I’ve thrown two showers, one when I was 18 that my mom very much had control of (thank goodness!) and a surprise shower two years ago. We did the arranging on facebook because asking for addresses from the bride would have arroused suspicion. . .but I’m pretty sure I invited everyone two months in advance.
Anyway, what’s your perspective? Is three weeks enough time? People will have until April 28 to rsvp, so if they get them by the end of next week (April 13) they’ll have two weeks to decide if they’re coming. What do you think? Normal?

I would say 4 weeks just to be on the safe side. Your’s will be a little late but I wouldn’t worry about it. I have gotten invites a week before the shower and still attended it.

my wedding invites went out like a week before my shower. I think my shower invites went out about 7 weeks before.. If I received an invite next week to a shower on May 5, I might think that it’s a little on the late side. But you will have people who won’t be able to make it even if you send it out 10 weeks in advance

We’re in the same boat. My Maid/Matron of Honor ordered the invites on Monday and will have them sent on Saturday (no idea who does this speedy shipping!)
My shower is May 5th or 6th…I honestly can’t remember! And the wedding is June 9th.
Ideally, they could have gone out earlier this week, but I don’t think a week makes that big a difference.

3 weeks is a bit tight, but doable. Will many people be coming in from out of town? If not, 3 weeks is probably plenty. What’s done is done, don’t worry about it!

There are four of the 20 invited people who are from out of state. I would love for them to come but I’m guessing they won’t be able to make it. I’m not sure if more notice would have helped or not?
It seems like three weeks isn’t so bad. Part of my concern was that my sister sent me mock ups to look at (just for fun) over a month ago so I definitely thought they’d already gone out! Hopefully she really does order them tonight and really gets them out next week. 🙂

@Mrs.DBee: only local people were getting invites for my shower… of the 98 invites given only 40 were invited to the shower…. we will see how many will show..

Mine is May 12th, and they’re going out this week. A couple of people already know the dates (like the Moms), but I’m also hoping it’s not too late- thought the girls were sending them out last weekend. Oh well!
