Our wedding is on a Saturday and I know typically the rehearsal is done the day before on a friday. We spoke with the church and were given these options: Friday at 6:00pm or Wednesday at 5:00pm or 5:30pm. With all of the running around i will need to do the day before the wedding i initially thought wednesday would be best. Also we will be planning a rehearsal dinner where wine and beer will be served so i thought it would be hard on our guest to drink friday night and wake up early on saturday to get ready, especially the ladies because hair and makeup starts at 6am and we must be ready and dressed to go by 11ish for photos ( there will be 10 of us getting hair and makeup). We confirmed with our wedding party if they are available on wednesday and all said yes except one that has to put in a request to leave work 2 hours earlier but said he would most likely get it as his job would more easily approve it for a wednesday over a friday because fridays are usually short staffed. so we booked for church and rehearsal for wednesday. But now i’m starting to second guess myself that guests won’t enjoy or have fun at the dinner because its in the middle of the week. Should i change it for a friday? did any ladies regret doing the rehearsal the day before wedding?

We are doing it the day before the wedding. I figure it will be fun to hang out and relax with our families/wedding party the night before.

marivettem: I think it’s a bit much to ask people to start wedding events 3 days before. I’d definitely have chosen Friday, but I’m assuming people have already made plans with work etc. for Wednesday so I’d stick with that.

Our rehearsal is the day before but all of my wedding party is traveling in so any other day would add extra expense. However, if it were not for all the traveling I would be okay with a different day other than the day before.

Usually rehearsals are done the night before as part of the wedding festivities and it gives everyone some time to hang out before the big day.
Honestly, if I had to work Thursday I wouldn’t drink on Wednesday night. Can’t you just rearrange whatever you are preparing for fridY to Wednesday so you can have rehearsal the evening before?

Even if Wednesday worked for me, I would still prefer the rehearsal to be on Friday. Besides, you are worried about people drinking and having to wake up early on Saturday, but I think it’s even worse to drink on Wednesday and have to go to work on Thursday.

Our wedding is a Saturday and our rehearsal dinner is the Sunday before our wedding. A couple of reasons for this are just having to deal with all last minute wedding stuff, plus we leave for our honeymoon four hours after our wedding made us decide to do the rehearsal almost a week ahead of time. We asked our Bridal Party how they felt and everyone was actually happy about it, they also thought doing it on the day before is a bit too crazy and they liked the idea of a late afternoon rehearsal followed by a 6:00 two hour dinner. One of our GMs did this for his wedding (a week ahead of time) and we all really thought it was great.

My Future Mother-In-Law asked if we minded having ours Thur before our Sat wedding which starts at 330pm. I think it’s fine as anyone working that Thur will likely have also worked Fri and so I already made my final drop off/rehearsal appt at venue for 7pm and the reservation at restaurant will be for 730. It’s right across from our venue (ceremony and reception same place) so we can just walk right over….I didn’t mind doing 2 days rather the day before honestly. :+)
I’ll be taking that Friday off of work (maybe Thur too) and hoping to relax since there will be nothing left to DO but get MARRIED!! lol

Most of the guests are college students or work in education so they are off for the summer and my imidiate family are flyng in from florida the week before. Also 2 guest are off on wednesday and work the evening shift on fridays.

marivettem: You should have it the night before. It would not be considerate to your guests to have it on Wednesday.

I had mine on Thursday for a Saturday wedding. Nobody minded at all, and I wanted to leave Friday open to get a few last minute things done, but mainly to RELAX. Worked out great for us!
