- Wedding: June 2016
Hello hive! My Fiance and I have been engaged for a few months. We were planning on having the wedding summer 2015, but now we’ve changed our plans. I will be attending grad school this Aug – May ’16, and he will be in a professional 2 yr program at the same time. Next summer I will be off on an internship. After that we will likely move according to my job options; could be close-ish to home, could be far away.
We’re 29 and 30. I have a good chunk of money saved, which could have been wedding $ but now I feel I need to hold on to it to get us through double-school for two years. He will work part time, I may get a paid assistantship.
Would it be crazy to plan a wedding while in school? Mine is a serious Ivy league program, and esp if i get the assistantship i’m hoping for I wonder if I will have time/energy. But, how much time does it really take? I won’t be a bride that’s very fixated on details, we want something laid back. Is it possible to plan a wedding if your life is consumed by school?
Second, is it crazy to be wedding planning while we’re mostly living off our savings and a school loan? I think if we waited til about a year after we graduate we will be way better off financially.. but that’s a whole 3 years away and by then we may be living far from where the wedding will be held and all the guests and wedding party live. Would that make it way less fun?
Any bee brides deal with wedding planning either while in school or while living far from everyone else and the wedding location? Which is a bigger pain in the ass? LOL! thanks!!
