Bees, my dad recently moved 2,000 miles away. He’d met Boyfriend or Best Friend before that, just once. Now I know it’s do or die time for me and my Boyfriend or Best Friend, his timeline to “figure it out” is the next few months.
Now, I’ve been planning to to visit my dad for the first time at his new place. He’s said multiple times that my Boyfriend or Best Friend is invited. My stepbrother/SIL also got a new place I’d like to stop by and spend some time with them too.
I’ve known for a few months that the trip would be in September, and now I’ve finally booked it. I’m coming there on a Thursday night at the end of the month, (on the way back from being in FL for work) and staying through the weekend.
So of course, I was totally self-conscious when I told my Boyfriend or Best Friend he was welcome to join me that weekend….I’m thinking in my head: “he knows that I’ve probably figured out that he needs to ask my dad! and this trip falls so conveniently into our timeframe! He’s going to think I’m pushing him to spend more time with my dad so he can propose…,aaargh!!! I don’t know if he’s even decided if he’s going to ask my dad/when he’s proposing….is end of Sept too early for him to have figured this out?”
Has this ever happened to you? Geez. My mind was just having a field-day with this one. All i was doing was inviting him/planning a trip to see family, but in my head I was freaking out about “pushing”. Though I clearly wasn’t!
Also, what if Boyfriend or Best Friend doesn’t come? Another thought If Boyfriend or Best Friend doesn’t come that weekend, it means he’s not going to propose within his timeframe. He’s a traditional guy, and he would want to ask my dad. And he doesn’t even have my dad’s phone #…..
So if he doesn’t come I’d still have a blast with my family. If he does come, I am sure I’ll be really nutty afterwards. Since I’ll know he probably talked to my dad.
*whew* I needed to get some of that CRAZY out of my system!
