I’m glad you asked because I was wondering the same thing!

I was told to start 6 months ahead of time if I wanted to do anything drastic.  I ended up leaving mine completely alone, so I’m not really sure.  That’s just what I was told.  Do you already have someone in mind?  If not, you should probably look into that.

Do you already have your seamstress?  How much weight do you think you will lose?  How close is your dress to fitting the way you want it now?  Do you need it hemmed, bc that can take the longest if you have detail on your skirt.

My dress was almost a perfect fit, so my first fitting we JUST did the bustle.  That can be done pretty far in advance then get her opinion on the rest.  My dress was a tiny big snug.  We did another fitting maybe a month before the wedding, and the dress fit perfectly, but I had to have the straps altered.  It doesn’t hurt to at least make your appointment in advance, for a later date, so you can make sure she doesn’t book up.

I am getting married in June.  My dress came in at the beginning of September, and when I wento see it/try it on the lady told me to schedule my first fitting around January.  She advised me to do this b/c I don’t fluctuate sizes much (so, I wouldnt’ be trying to lose weight until the last possible minute) and the months before my wedding date are some of their busiest.  HOWEVER, when I called back earlier this month to ask some questions about the bm dresses, the girl I spoke with told me I didn’t need to make an appointment until March.  So….I’m thinking I’m going to call and schedule an appointment for late Feb/early March.

I am getting my gown altered at the salon I bought it at b/c they through in free alterations!

When are you getting married?

I would definitely call around in the next few weeks and be prepared to get fitted if they need you to!
