We asked our bridaly party once we had a date set. We felt that the more information we could provide them, the better they would be able to decide whether being a bridesmaid/groomsman was something they could swing.

A friend of mine has no date set but has already asked her bridesmaids (myself included). I’ve said yes for now, but have no idea whether my situation will change between now and them setting a date. I would feel awkward about having to step down but it may be necessary if it doesn’t fit with our finances, they opt to have a destination wedding, or the date clashes with something important.

I would ask between 8 months and a year out, but wait til you have a date.

I asked my bridal party before I set a date, to make sure they could all make it! So I think I asked like 15 months in advance, a month after we got engaged. For what it’s worth I am a bridesmaid in a March 2019 wedding and I already have my dress.

I asked after we set a date, which was about 15 months before our wedding. Most people on the bee will say that’s too early, but I say go for it! Just make sure they have the date in advance to help with planning.

I asked one the day i got engaged, but she and i have been discuusing my wedding since we were teenagers! She knew it was coming and we had a date within 2 weeks. The rest i asked over the following week. I asked them all before it was on facebook.  They all have different financial situations so I wanted to give them as much notice as possible. I let them pick what dresses they could afford and we were lucky enough to win some tuxes so we paid down the guys tuxes.
