Gifts will be brought the reception, so have a table there ready for them. 🙂

Unless if your gift is monetary, I know most couples prefer that it be sent to their home, so they don’t have to worry about transporting it and keeping an eye on gifts during the reception.

There will always those guests who show up at the wedding reception with a gift. I would have a gift table there with some sort of container fo cards.

There is no need to do the same at the ceremony venue.

@maladroite:  This could be regional- but I’ve never heard of gifts sent to a home. Gifts are always brought to the event iteslf. That said I think it’s more common to bring the gift to the reception. But you *should* have a plan should some guests bring gifts to the ceremony as well.

I’m reviving this because I was wondering about the same topic.  We’re providing transportation to/from the hotel, to the church, and to the reception for all guests.  Guests who bring gifts/cards will have to bring them to the ceremony, since they won’t be able to go back to hotel until end of night, unless they drive themselves.  Should they just hold on their gifts during the ceremony?  Provide a gift table at the church (seems strange to me)?

They sit with it at the ceremony and put it on the gift table at the reception.  Nothing irks me more than people who show up with gifts and then the couple needs to get them home.  Arghh
