bonnielass1979:  we purchased it right after putting the deposit down for the venue.  we also got the cancellation insurance too.  heard too many bad stories about vendors double booking or going bankrupt, freak accidents like corrupt memory cards (losing photos), death in the family, etc.  it was worth it for peace of mind.  i don’t know if insurance rates go up, but generally speaking, booking earlier usually locks in a lower rate when it comes to weddings.

forgot to add that we used wedsafe. 🙂

Right now. It’s for you as much as them, if they go out of business or decide to move to Detroit like our venue did and you can’t recoup your deposit you can get it back from the insurance. We used travelers insurance it was $500 fir $50000 of coverage and covers lost deposits, damage to clothing or accessories, having to find any new vendor for any reason will cover the cost difference up to a certain amount for photographers, transportation, caterer etc. will cover cost of postponement or cancellation due to circumstances, but to a certain amounT

Our venue also required a policy that covered $1,000,000 and it cost us something like $350. $330? Right in that range. We set it up about 3 months out, and the whole thing was quite easy between the information provided by the venue and the use of their suggested provider after doing some comparison shopping.

bonnielass1979:  1 mil is standard coverage.  as the PP stated, around the $350 mark.  i think we paid around 450 for both liability and cancellation (small discount for the bundle).
