I would likely change before making your big first entrance into the reception hall. I wouldn’t want to stop halfway through the night to change. I also don’t think at any point during our reception I would have had time to leave for 15 or 20 minutes!

I have seen that most change after the first dance or father/daughter dance, but I will be changing right before the reception.  FH wants me in the shorter dress as we will be doing a compilation first dance which will end with east coast swing and the heavy dress will just be a hinderance.

It depends on your preference.  Most brides do it right before they enter the reception hall.

But, some want the wedding gown pics when dancing their first dance and father/daughter dance, so they do it after that.  Really depends on which dress you want to be wearing during those pics.

Hope it helps and let us know what you choose!!  🙂

I am thinking of changing after the dinner. We’ll probably do the entrance, first dance as a married couple, mother/daughter and mother/son dances, and then dinner. Quick change after dinner and then get the party started! I just love my gown and I want some of those slow dancing photos with Mr.ND, but once it’s time to get dancing I’ll need a shorter dress.
