wedo016 :  I’m in a similar position to this–I live in Texas, but I’m getting married in Michigan!

It kind of depends on how nervous you are about it, and whether you anticipate having a lot of other things to do in town before the event. Doing it Labor Day gives you extra time to think about how you feel about it (and time to get a second trial before the wedding if anything goes awry). You’d also be able to check it off the list as one less thing to do in the short days prior to your wedding.

However, if you feel pretty comfortable with your stylist(s), and won’t have anything left to take care of in those few days, it might be nice to get it down close to the date so everything is fresh.

Either could work–depends on your comfort!

I have my hair and makeup trial on Sunday and my wedding is 10/8. She usually recommends the month before the wedding but she was booked that month so we are doing it 2 months early. I’m pretty easy to please but I wanted to make sure my hair piece looks good and have time to get a new one if I don’t like this one.

I would do it when you fly in for the shower. While you can’t have it for that day- which is what I did, it’ll give you more time to make changes if need be. We did some tweaking in that time and I’m much happier with my day of versus my shower/practice run (hair and make-up) .

Just be sure to take photos from lots of different angles.
