I ended up getting mine cleaned the week of the wedding.  That way it was pressed and ready to go after sitting in my closet for months.  I don’t really know what to tell you as far as alterations go since I didn’t have to alter mine.  Whatever the standard time is would be fine.  2 months prior?  Total guess.

My real reason for writing this is to do a little homework on where you will get it cleaned.  I had to do some driving around to find a drycleaner that used the right kind of solvent or whatever they use to clean the dress.  I don’t know if you have any beading or what type of detail is on your dress.  It is stressful if you wait until the week before the wedding to do that part!  I had no idea that would be a problem at all.

About 2-3 months for alterations and if you go back to where you bought it,most clean/steam it for you a cpl days before the wedding… I am sure DB does that.

I’m getting mine steamed when they alter. My wedding is March 10 and the store doing my alterations told me to call mid January to schedule my fitting (and steaming) late Jan/early Feb. I’d just give them a call to see what they recommend, especially since prom alterations may be coming in right around the time you’ll need yours.
