I just got engaged last Saturday, and my fiance bought the ring that week so it has a sizer on it, since it’s a tish big. We plan on keeping the sizer on for awhile, but will eventually go in to have it sized correctly (takes 2 weeks).
My question is, do I send in the matching wedding band at the same time? Or, should I wait until it’s closer to the wedding to do that? Or, do I just wait to get it resized when it’s soldered to the engagement ring?
My mom says I should wait, but I think it should be sent in at the same time as my ring, since when the wedding band gets put on during the vows, I obviously want it to fit.

I don’t think it matters if you do it now or later, really. I just got my wedding band sized and they had me get it a quarter size bigger than my e-ring, so think about that as well!

@Kacie209: My e-ring fits my finger perfectly, but with my wedding bands (band on either side, its a sleeve) the whole set is quite tight. I will be resizing all the rings a half sizer bigger just before the wedding. If you are going to have to have the wedding band made bigger once again when you need to wear your wedding band I would just wear the sizer for now and wait.

@Kacie209: I got mine sized shortly after getting engaged, it was about half a size too big. However I’ve lost 15 pounds since then and it’s loose again! I think I’ll weight until I get to my goal weight, or until I get my wedding band.

I would suggest waiting until you’re very close to the wedding day. For most people, when you add the wedding band to the e-ring, you’ll need to size up a 1/4 size or so.

I got my engagement ring originally sized as a 4. It ended up being way too loose. So I had it sized down to a 3.5 (still a tad loose, I like my rings tight), and kept the band at a size 4. Personally if I were to do it again, I would resize both at the same time, because now the band doesn’t sit under the engagement like it’s supposed to. And I had to wait nearly 3 weeks for the ring to be resized. I chose to NOT get my rings soldered together as I ended up getting a different band so the ring and band are not a matching set (similar) but not matching. I’d also would have done my now, so that I try both on, make sure I liked it and had plenty of turn around before the wedding.

I’m getting my Ering resized while they are doing my wedding band. The place we got my rings actually said they recommend doing both together. Just an opinion though.

my engagement ring was just tiny bit loose when i wore it by itself, but fit much better when i wore it with my wedding ring. so i wouldn’t have it re-sized until you knew it was absolutely necessary.
and i would probably have the soldering and sizing done at the same time just because i don’t like being without my ring, so i wouldn’t want to have it sent out any more than i need to. that’s just me tho. i had my rings soldered before my wedding (the jewelry store didn’t recommend it just in case there was a delay or something, but i did it anymway- i just made to sure to allow plenty of time) because i knew i wouldn’t want to part with my rings so soon after getting married. but again, that’s just me 🙂
