How far ahead of the wedding should we be shopping for, ordering, and purchasing bands? I should say I’m considering taking the stones from my great-grandmother’s wedding band (“ONLY sentimental value” as my grandmother says :)), so I know I’ll need to leave time for that to be made, if I choose to go that route.
But I also know that I tend to do things obsessively ahead of time (making favors 11 months out… ).
So when should I schedule a time for me and Fiance to go look?

Any time! I started looking a few months after we got engaged, because I was curious. It took me a long time to find something I actually liked (I’m not kidding, I looked for 6 months!). I bought it on the spot! And we’re 10 months away… so I never think it’s too early 🙂

Not sure b/c you are getting a custom ring… We are just getting plain white gold bands… maybe with some engraving.
I’m pretty obsessive too… I like to get things out of the way early. I’m getting married 6/26/11. We already checked out bands to get an idea of what we like 🙂 But I and am trying to wait until just after Christmas to seriously look.

Really wedding bands are a part of planning that can be done at any time! We got our rings in the beginning of June for our August wedding. This was plenty of time for us – we both just have plain sterling silver bands for the time being until we can afford something nicer for both of us. You may want to look into how long a custom band would take though.

I agree with anytime. We got mine in May and FI’s in June for our October wedding, but we just picked them from a store.

we started looking a little after we got engaged. i am going to order them next month but thats because i may gain weight with the pregnancy and Fiance is talking about upgrading my ring.

Choosing mine was easy since there was a matching band for my e-ring. And my Fiance already found the one he likes. We decided at 10 months out to put them on layaway to make our lives easier. Since we have a lot of upcoming expenses, we decided 10 monthly payments at the jewler’s would be easier than paying them in full a month before the big day. As mentioned, its never too early. Good luck!

i bought my wedding band today. i don’t even have a date set.
i saw the ring, i LOVED the ring, the ring was under budget. i saw no reason to not buy it.
