I don’t know when to have my flowergirl’s mother purchase the dress for my flowergirl. They live out of state so we can’t go shopping for one together. Plus, the mom doesn’t want to spend a lot on a dress (I’m talking $50 or less), so it’s not like we are going to be able to afford one at a bridal salon anyway. The mother also wanted her daughter to wear a white dress so that the dress can be re-worn next spring for first communion. So I know she won’t be happy when I tell her that it has to be ivory or champagne because that is what everything in my wedding is. So anyway, because of that I want to keep the dress as cheap as possible. I fear a huge conflict is already going to arise in the future because I don’t want her wearing a white dress. It’s not like the girl would fit in the same dress next spring anyway. The girl is 7 and is always growing.
There are some $40 dresses I’ve found on ebay. I’m not sure when to have her order it though? My wedding is 70 days away (Mid October). Should I tell the mom to send me her daughter’s measurements now and I’ll order the dress, or should I wait a few weeks still? I want them to have enough time for alterations if it doesn’t fit the girl at all. Are alterations for flowergirls faster than brides and bridesmaids?
