I was 10 years old, and I wouldn’t do it earlier than that. I believe a person should be able to choose what they do to their bodies cosmetically, not their parents.

@PrncssDva:  I had my ears pierced as a baby by my doctor. I see most baby girls in my area with their ears pierced and I think it’s adorable! My best friend did her daughters at about 3 months. I say little diamond studs or little gold studs.

I will keep my personal feelings on the subject to myself and just vote: birthstone!

i wouldn’t pierce my baby’s ears at a young age, but i respect the OPs decision to.

curious to see how many people who are very ANTI baby piercing think about circumcision….

ETA: But OP I’d say definitely get a high quality metal and I’d probably just go with something more plain than a hot pink colored stone

Oh and as for what kind of earings definitely be choosy about the metal, you don’t want anything that will turn green or anything gross like that. I would say some simple gold studs would be nice. And then later if you want to get birthstone ones down the road that would be cute too. But for starters I would say keep it simple. 🙂

Is this a cultural or regional thing? I can’t say I have ever noticed an infant with pierced ears!

@Mrs_Amanda:  where I live, its more common to get it done than to not. Its pretty common in my circle of friends and family and in the area I live in general.

My lovely mother had my ears pierced when I was a solid 2 weeks old. The holes in my ears are in two different spots. Eh, she was excited to have a girl. Not the most noticable thing ever, but kind of annoying lol

i had my ears pierced… i cant say that i would or wouldnt as i am having a boy… but i know mine were pierced when i was a few months old and i ended up having to get them repeirced later on because the hole was too high on my ear. i would def go with white gold or gold just in case of allergies if you are going to get them done. but i really dont see a problem with it as long as its done by a professional.

I’m not going to tell you what you should and shouldn’t do. You have the legal right to do it, so that’s up to you! (not that i’m particularly for or against this, I have never really thought about it before!)

I just wanted to let you know, I have no metal allergies, except for in piercings. It’s far more sensetive for me and I’ll get an itchy ear and not be able to wear earrings for a few days if I wear cheap ones. I think this is because my mother is allerigic to metal, any that isn’t gold/silver/etc. just on her skin.

But just be super careful with which metal!

(If anyone’s interester, 1st ears at 9, second at 10, 3rd top of ear at 12, nose at 12, belly button at 13, 3rd set in ear 13, another 3 in one ear all done by myself by the age of 15, all with parental consent)

ETA: I think I would go with diamond/white jewel. Just so it’s not too much. Also won’t clash!

@PrncssDva:  I was only a few months old when my mom got mine done. Less than 6 months, that was the norm back then. I don’t think I would be opposed to around the same timeline for my own daughter, if I have one. My mom said I fussed for maybe 30 seconds and that was the end of that.
