I’m breastfeeding, but also pumping bottles for my Darling Husband but I’m not sure how to time it right. i’m feeding on demand so it’s unpredictable when my 6 week old will eat next, usually about every 2-3 hours though.
Sometimes I pump and then don’t have enough left in me to feed him until they re-engorge. So then I have to use the bottles I’ve pumped for later.
What’s the best way to time pumping?

I have two suggestions:
1-pump on the side LO is not nursing on
2-pump immediately after nursing (you won’t get as much, but you will get some and help to stimulate production)

If you get in the habit of pumping after you nurse, you won’t get much immediately but will train your body to make more.
And make sure you’re getting lots of calories and drinking lots of water.
