We’re getting married on 5/7/11. Although we already live together, we’re doing a TINY gift registery, mostly for the many people who have already asked “where are you registered?”
We don’t want to register too early (as items sell out, are seasonal, etc.), but when is a good time? February, March, etc?
Thanks, bees! I really appreciate the insight!

If you are having any showers or parties, definately before invites go out for those (that’s what I read somewhere), but I would say once you send STD (if you send them), you should at least have a few things on your registry for those that like to buy early. Otherwise, I don’t know the rule for the whole shebang being done.
I’m interested to hear what people say about this, we just got engaged, so I’d like to know what’s ‘normal’.

From my experience, no matter how early you do, eventually within a few months to the wedding, you’re going to have to do a do-over. I did ours around 6 months out, and then had to do it all completely over 2 weeks before the shower, mostly because everything that I had picked ended up being discontinued, no longer available, or out of season!

I don’t think I’ll have a shower or bachelorette. Honestly, I feel really funny even registering; we’re in our late 30s’, we’ve been living together for over 4 years, etc. I completely understand why other people register, it just doesn’t seem “right” that we are.

I’m 100 days away from the wedding and I noticed that someone already brought us somethings. I would try to register about 6 months in advance. We registered at around 8 months before the wedding because we were in an LDR at the time and we had to do things when we could (we wanted to go together).
