How far ahead of time should we register for gifts? Our wedding is SEVEN (wow) months from yesterday, I just don’t want to register for something now and have it not be in stock when someone goes to buy it, or even just looking at our registry. Also where did you everyone register?

We went in January, so 3 months before our wedding, and it was a little over a month before our first shower.
We registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, and Target. Then we registered at 2 little shops in our home town.

We are getting married 6 months from tomorrow and did most of our registering last weekend. There are still some things we haven’t found, like bedding, but it’s mostly done. We registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond and Macy’s.

We just started and we are about 6 months out, but we are doing one store each weekend (not to overwhelm FI), so it’s going to take a month or two to actually complete this (including going back and deciding things like silverware).

We are probably going to go when I send out invitations out. So probably three months in advance. But I doubt anyone is going to be throwing me a bridal shower.

I think it depends on when people are throwing you showers. We waited until after the holidays to register when all of the new spring and summer things were coming out so we wouldn’t pick items that would go out of stock. We registered last month so about 5 months out and did it over a couple of weekends so we wouldn’t feel rushed and took the time to review the registeries online afterward to make sure we didn’t have duplicate items etc. We registered at Crate & Barrel (highlighy recommend their registry event), Bed, Bath & Beyond and Macy’s.
