I just had mine at 31 weeks and wish I waited another month or so. In the last two weeks since we had it done my belly has popped a lot more and looking at the photos we got back I’m a bit disappointed. I think 33-36 is ideal.

I did mine at 36wks, my photographer said that’s when your belly is perfectly round. But I think you could do any where from 30wks to 38wks.

I would not do them any later than 36 weeks, that’s about the time most people get super uncomfortable and feel gross, and being on your feet posing and smiling for an hour or more would be challenging (for me anyway).  I think 32 weeks would be perfect, when you have a nice bump but aren’t at blimp / whale stage!

rittenhousenewbee:  I did mine this past Monday, I was just about 35w.. we did it in the evening at 8:15pm, so it was still hot out, but it was a good time for the light we wanted. I think anywhere between 30-35 weeks is good, you’re definitely showing but aren’t too huge or uncomfortable yet. Here’s two samples of mine 🙂

rittenhousenewbee:  I just did mine at 33 weeks. I was completely comfortable getting around and sitting/lying down for poses. And I like the shape of my belly right now. Here’s a sneak peak from my shoot…it was just done on Monday.

I didn’t start showing until later on. I was bigger in my midsection of course but I hid it so well for being a small/petite girl. I had mine done at 34 weeks and it was perfect for me. My bump is noticable but not too big and I’m not uncomfortable by any means. Everyone is different of course but if I would have had my photos done at 30 weeks I wouldn’t have been as pleased. I am glad we didn’t wait much longer though because I am starting to get puffy from fluid and look larger than what I am and look like I have gained more than the 23 lbs that I have put on.

rittenhousenewbee:  We weren’t going to do them, and then I decided at the last minute that I wanted to. Our photographer was great, and met us five days after I decided I wanted them. I was 37w. I’m glad I waited till longer; if I’m going to remember being pregnant, I want to really look it haha.  Here’s the sneak peek we got from our photographer (sorry if the picture is ridiculously large).

I did mine at 31 weeks and am happy with them- my bump is there but not huge yet. I was afraid  I would start retaining fluid later in the pregnancy and didn’t want to look swollen in my pics. I’m 32 weeks now and still look/feel fine, so I could have done photos this week as well! Here are some of my bump photos from 31w- the dress accentuates it more! For reference I’m 5’3″ and had gained 19-20lb by the time of my photo shoot.

eta: I was also worried that if I go into labor early,I would miss my photo opportunity! I have no risk factors for going early other than a “feeling” since my mom had all her babies 2-6 weeks early. But my photographer took another mama’s maternity shoot the day before mine when she was 32wks, and the girl had the baby the very next day!! Crazy!!
