My wedding is July 7, 2012 and I have conflicting ideas about when to send my save the dates. First off, I want to avoid December because I do NOT want them getting thrown into a pile of Christmas cards and be forgotten. AND my wedding is the weekend after the 4th of July so I want to make sure people put my date on their calendars and do not schedule something else for that holiday time. So, I am going between November and January. What do you think? Is November too early? I January too late?
Other July 2012 Brides, what are you doing?

November is a bit early but i think january would be a perfect time – it wont be forgotten in the hustle of and bustle of the holidays and thats 7 months before your wedding so i think thats a good time frame to give a heads up.

I think NOW! I am going to try to send them out this month.. but I am having a Destination Wedding so that might be my issue lol

I am in the same boat. I plan to get Save-The-Date Cards out earlier if possible; so I say November.
My plan is to try to send my Save-The-Date Cards by the end of October or early November. Our wedding is in the evening on Friday of the holiday weekend; so I want people pencil us in as soon as possible. I know of a few guests that have to put in their vacation requests for the upcoming year at the beginning of the new year, this way they have the information to request the time off.
Another bonus to getting out the Save-The-Date Cards in Oct/Nov is that the Save-The-Date Cards will arrive before the holiday season. I know that my extended family will most likely buy our holiday and birthday gifts off our registry.

I think January is perfect. I just know that lots of people change relationships as time goes on. (For example, I even invited a then-coworker to my engagement party, who stopped working with me between the time the invitation was sent and the actual party! grrr… I definitely wouldn’t have invited him and his wife to the reception otherwise!)

My wedding is the same day and we are sending ours out the end of sept.

We’re getting married the weekend before you (July 1) and we sent ours out in the middle of August. My concern was that it’s so close to the 4th of July and over the summer people go on vacations all the time so I wanted people to be saving out date ASAP! We also have a lot of family coming in from out of town. Between November and January, I would definitely be in the November camp but otherwise, I’d say send them out as soon as possible. =)

Haha, thanks for the support and opinions, I think I needed to hear from fellow brides that sending them earlier wasn’t a bad idea, so thanks for the confidence! 🙂 November it is!!!
