We’re getting married on a Thursday around 3p.m.- the majority of people we’ll be inviting are from out of town. When’s a good time to send out the invites, given this information? I’ve heard that for destination weddings, it should be about 3 months from the wedding, but since it’s during the week (and not even on a Friday), I’m thinking that maybe I should give people more time and send them out even earlier. Thoughts?

Kimbalina81: Have you sent Save the Date cards? If not, I’d send the invitations as soon as possible, since your date is a weekday and may necessitate the out of town guests taking that Friday as vacation as well.

We’re not doing Save the Dates. So, if we’re getting married in the middle of October, when would you send them?

Kimbalina81: I would still send them the traditional 6-8 weeks out. Maybe 10 weeks (2 and 1/2 months) at the very most. Honestly, people who are going to decline are going to do so regardless of when you send your invitations out – I would just be prepared for a lot of declines considering you’re basically forcing people to take 3 days off of work.
