yep, it’s too soon. the norm is 6-8 weeks in advance. if you have a lot of Out of Town guests, you could push them to 10 weeks, but i wouldn’t go earlier than that.

@futuremrskoch: I think its a little too soon to send out invitations. We only sent out our Save-The-Date Cards 6 months before our wedding. How many of your guests have to travel (plane flight or several hours or driving) to get to your wedding? If you have a lot of Out of Town guests then I say you can send them around 10 weeks ahead of time. If people are not Out of Town I would say 6-8 weeks. I’m sure you have been telling people your date and the important people probably already have it marked off on their calendars – but if you send invitations out now people might forget about it 5 months from now!

My mom was horrified at the idea of me sending them out in February.  Anywhere between 3 months and 6 weeks out is within good etiquette standards.  90% of my guests are from out of town (heck, I’m from out of town), and my wedding is on the same day as high school graduation.  I’m sending mine out the first week of March – two and a half months out.

10-12 weeks if most guests are Out of Town.  6-8 for a wedding with mostly local guests.

Yeah I think 3 months in advance would be fine

My wedding is May 14.  And we are sending ours out early February.  75% are out of town guests….earier the better I say.  3 months for us.

I would send them now as you didn’t send out Save-The-Date Cards.  Better to have people save the date once they’ve received your invite than to follow common etiquette and risk having less of your gusts attend.

We did send out save-the-dates and we sent our invitations out 3 month in advance (December 31st) with an RSVP date for February 14th. I think you should send them out at the beginning of February at the latest, since the majority of your guests will be having to make travel arrangements.

@futuremrskoch: You need to call that hotel and block off some rooms for your guests.  They’ll do it for free.

Four months is really early for invitations.  Even 3 months is early.  If I was in your shoes, I’d send STD’s out now or I’d have the parents make sure to circulate the date informally.
