When should March brides be sending out your invitations? The 8-10 week rule would put us right on/after New Years and in the Holiday card mix. :-/
I want our RSVP date to be Valentine’s Day, so we’ll have about 3 buffer weeks to catch the stragglers (and there will be many) and get final counts lined up.
I don’t think that all of our invites will be lost or over looked, but would you think it’s better to send them out BEFORE Christmas (like the 12th?), give it a bit of a gap after NYE and send them out January 9th, or just send them out right at the New Year?
I feel like I have to either send them too early or too late, the middle is just messy :-/ What are you bees doing?

your awesome! lets see what other bees have to say!

@MrsStrawberry24: Maybe I’ll change it up a bit to get input from all bees as to when March brides should send out. The knowledge of the hive is great 🙂 Hehehe. *goes to edit post a bit*

yes do that! we can get more input that way!

I’m sending mine out the first week of December. My wedding happens to fall the weekend before Spring Break in the area (Disney) so I know a lot of the hotels will be booking up early. (Yes I did send out Save-The-Date Cards and have all the info on my wedding website, but people still don’t get it yet lol).
Our RSVP date is Feb. 1 because I know I’ll have to do a lot of tracking down so this way I have 2 weeks to get a hold of everyone before our final hard counts are due to vendors.
ETA: I came to the bee this morning specifically to figure out when to send invitations, glad my month twins are in the same boat as me 🙂 lol

I think that if you send them out before the holidays, they are more likely to get lost in the “holiday card shuffle.”

My wedding was on March 6th of 2010. We sent the invites out on Jan 2nd and had no problems with them getting lost in the shuffle so I say do it shortly after the new year.

what about right the beginning of december with an RSVP date of middle of janurary??? too long?

I’m sending my invites out 8 weeks in advance which for me is 04 Feb. So none of the sending dates applied…but I voted for 2 week leeway RSVP date.
Surely you could send them out right after New Years with out issue, no? No one can miss the giant invitation envelope 🙂

@floridabride12: Same exact boat! My date is the start of spring break as well. Not that ND is a popular destination, but there is also high school state basket ball that weekend…grrr. So people best be getting their rooms early. I’ve warned them.
@red_rose: I’m sort of thinking that as well.
@Moose1209: I’m leaning that way, dropping them right at the start of the year.
@MrsStrawberry24: I’d think that’s maybe too early, especially since the RSVP date is almost 2 months out from the day of. Maybe a late January RSVP date would give them a little more time.
@Stammie16: We’re not doing envelopes, we have an invite style called seal and send. It’s pretty handy, but it’s just folds to the size of a regular envelope and sticks closed. I think they’re unique enough that if they go out right at the beginning of January our guests will notice them. I can’t leave 2 weeks leeway though, because our venue requires headcount 2 weeks out. I know with Mr.ND’s family there will be PLENTY of late RSVPs and people to track down…grrr. I’m going to need that luck. LOL.
We did send out save the dates, so dropping invites in the mail right at the beginning of January and having RSVPs due February 9th is a reasonable length of time for them to decide, right?

@indibee: Yes! When I realized it was Spring Break I immediately started calling family that I knew would need hotels to tell them. Half the counties in the area have it the week before the wedding and the other half have it the week after. Seriously! UGH. Just one more thing to factor in. lol

We’re sending ours out the first week of January with an RSVP date of Feb 15th. Our venue requires a first guest count 30 days out and then a second a week before. So this will give us a rough estimate before those counts are due.

We’re sending ours out mid-January. Our “must be out date” is January 19th, though they may be out up to a week earlier. Our RSVP date is February 17. Wedding March 3.
