Invitations go our 6-8 weeks prior to the event. If you send them to early, you run serious risks of people completely forgetting about it since over 2 months is very far away and then having to chase lots of people down.

If you have to send our Save-The-Date Cards, those can go out as soon as your date is completely secure and your finances are in order and you are positive the guest list won’t have to be reduced for any reason.

@BurlapnLace:  happy nine months to go! My wedding starts at 2:30 And I believe 4:00 the parry will start. Woo. What about you? I was going to get married on a Saturday but I would have had to get married earlier and I did not want that. So Friday it is.

@BurlapnLace:  I am personally not doing Save-The-Date Cards, though we are having a Friday wedding (we are letting people know verbally as we see them). Usually if you do a STD any time 6 months or later is appropriate. If you send a STD, send invitations about4-6 weeks before you need your numbers in to your vendors.

@BurlapnLace:  make sure you provide your guests the transportation detail either in the invite or on the way out after the ceremony. Guests need directions.
