I just realize, we are both exactly 9 months out from out weddings!!
So you’re having a Friday wedding, too…what is your timeframe for that day, if you don’t mind me asking? What time is everything taking place?

- Wedding: March 2012 - Pelican Grand Beach Resort
Invitations go our 6-8 weeks prior to the event. If you send them to early, you run serious risks of people completely forgetting about it since over 2 months is very far away and then having to chase lots of people down.
If you have to send our Save-The-Date Cards, those can go out as soon as your date is completely secure and your finances are in order and you are positive the guest list won’t have to be reduced for any reason.

happy nine months to go! My wedding starts at 2:30 And I believe 4:00 the parry will start. Woo. What about you? I was going to get married on a Saturday but I would have had to get married earlier and I did not want that. So Friday it is.

- Wedding: October 2014 - Church
@BurlapnLace: I am personally not doing Save-The-Date Cards, though we are having a Friday wedding (we are letting people know verbally as we see them). Usually if you do a STD any time 6 months or later is appropriate. If you send a STD, send invitations about4-6 weeks before you need your numbers in to your vendors.

Our timeline is a little wonky b/c our venue is an HOUR away from the church!! Ceremony @ 1, reception @ 4:00. Seems like a long time in between but I figure we’ll be done with pictures around 2/2:30 and the majority of people will drop off their cars at the nearby hotel and take a shuttle to the venue. I’d rather have extra time than run late!

make sure you provide your guests the transportation detail either in the invite or on the way out after the ceremony. Guests need directions.

Oh absolutely. The majority of our guests are from the same part of NJ and have NO IDEA where any of this stuff is. I hate that it’s inconvenient, but we were dead set on a rustic barn setting, which is super hard to come by where we live. I just hope our crazy travel plans don’t deter people from coming!
