I have been told most people send their STD’s around 8-6 months from the wedding. Would it be fine to send them sooner, around 10 months, or would you wait for the 8-6 month time frame? We don’t really have any out of town guests and our wedding isn’t on a holiday time. We are getting our engagement pictures done at the end of this month and I was hoping to send out our STD’s in December/January so that it is one less thing to worry about/pay for. Would you send them that soon? Or would you wait until the holidays are over to send them?

I sent mine the day I booked my venue (thus, settling the date). It’s never too early!

We sent our save the dates out in early December (our wedding was in May). I wanted to send out Christmas save the dates. It was super cute! Said something like Merry, Merry and Getting Married… 🙂 I agree with PP. It’s never too early!

Not sure. Our wedding is in June and we have already ordered our save the dates and have them in our possession but aren’t sure when we need to send them by.

We sent ours out this week, and our wedding is in June, so just a bit longer than eight months out. I think it would be fine to send them earlier if you want. People won’t care! I was actually planning to send them earlier but we just didn’t get the website up until now.

We are getting married in April, and will be sending out our stds by the middle of this month. (that gives us six months) We do have a lot of out of town guests.

10 months is kinda far if your wedding doesn’t involve travel for most of your guests. People may lose or forget them anyway. 4-6 months is probably going to be sufficient for you!

I think save the dates should go out as soon as possible, just in case people are picking days to travel, ect. while the invitations should go out later with all the details about 4-5 months before the date?
That way it’s a reminder and a clarifier of all the details

Weve already received complaints from family that ours havent gone out yet and we are still 11/10 months from the wedding! Everyone said they expected them at the year mark even though ive only ever heard 9 months on here. I think 10 months out is a good time so we will be sending ours soon.

We sent ours about 7 months out. Most of our guests are local, but we’re having it at a beautiful resort in town and are encouraging people to stay a night to enjoy the weekend there. Not pressuring people of course, but we wanted to make sure those who wanted to had enough of a heads up.

We sent ours out at the end of December for our August wedding. Many employers require all vacation requests to be in by the end of January and we had lots of guests travelling from the other side of the country.

I just figured if we have the chance to get them done early why not? I am hoping that there will be some deals around the holidays too that i can take advantage of! We just got a STD from a friend two weeks ago which is a year in advance but their wedding is on a holiday weekend so that to me is totally understandable. And on the other hand we have a friend who is getting married in may and they haven’t sent out theirs yet (FI is in the wedding so we know we will be getting one). To me if you are at that point in the planning why not send them out and move on!

We are getting married at the end of August next year and we sent ours out this week. I think that anytime within a year before the wedding is fine! And if it’s going to save you some stress in the long run- go for it and get them done now! One less thing to worry about down the road😄

We are getting married in June, and my goal is to send them out by the beginning of December (so six months out). We have already verbally told most people the date and location, so most of our friends won’t even really need a Save the Date card, but it’s a nice formality.
