I don’t know what etiquette says, but I would take into consideration the time of year and your guests’ travel time. If it’s at a time of year when people make plans way in advance (a long weekend, for example), I would send them out earlier. Same goes for if your guests have to travel.

If everyone lives nearby and no one has to travel, I think that 4-6 weeks is plenty of time. If it’s a more casual event, you could get away with less notice.

Everyone invited to my shower except for my FI’s mom and grandmother live within a 45-minute drive. My bridesmaid sent them out about 5.5 weeks in advance. My shower is July 14th and she mailed them out a little over a week ago.

I believe we did them about five weeks out.

For all of my showers they were sent about one month out

@LadyStitcher:  +1 Unfortunately the best time for Fiance and I to travel for my shower was a full 3 months before the wedding and it’s a holiday weekend, so my hostess sent them out a good 2 1/2 months ahead of time.
