Okay bees, when do I send the STD’s for my March 31, 2012 wedding? I’ve seen some bees send them out a year in advance, but I think that’s extremely early. My engagement photos are set for Sept 17th and we should get them back the next week. I’m having my STD postcards made through http://www.weddingpaperdivas.com, so I should have them ordered, addressed, and ready to mail out by the first week of October. That is still almost 6 months in advance (at the latest 5.5 months). Is this okay?

i dunno….i think its kinda late….i sent mine out last march….a year in advance. we are sending out our invitations in novemeber!
i think alot of the book differ as far as the “right” time to send them….you have to really think about your family. i know my family is full of procrastinators that wait til the last minute to send anythiing so thats why we did everything so early!
we sent STD in march, had our engagment party in april, taking e pics in aug, bridal shower in november…wedding in march!!
also take into consideration that hoildays!

Im getting married in October of next year. I plan on sending the STD’s in DEC or Jan. and sending the invited 3-4 months before the wedding. If u are sending STD’s u are cutting it pretty close for someone who’s getting married in March!
Most brides who are getting married in March have already sent them and will be sending out their invites in Nov or Dec.
If u want to send them,do it now!

Save-The-Date Cards went out late only due to postal strike otherwise, mine would have been out a year in advance.

We sent ours out 9 months to the day – June 17th for a March 17th wedding. Sorry but anything past the 6 month mark is too late.

- Wedding: March 2012 - Father's Vineyard Church/ A Touch of Class Banquet Center
We sent ours about 8 months before, it was so the people who are out of town would have more warning. The point of the save the dates is to give people a heads up about the date, so the more time the better!

I sent mine out about 2 weeks ago.. 7-8 month mark.

@Earlybride: You are sending out invites for a March wedding in November/December? That is wayyyy early. Wedding invites should go out 8-10 weeks before the wedding. That’s why I was thinking an STD 5-6 months before the wedding would be sufficient.
@MrsStrawberry24: I’ve heard of brides sending out STD’s a year before the wedding if it is a destination wedding. But otherwise, I’ve never heard of sending out STD’s so early.
Thanks for the input ladies. I’m still going to send out my STD’s at the end of September/early October. Since my wedding is the 31st of March, I think it will be fine.

@amw511s: Im not.Im getting married next October. Plan to send my STD’s Dec. or Jan and then will send our invites 3-4 months before our wedding. So it will be about June or July .But brides normally send out invites 3-4 months before the wedding. Especially if u have a A and a B list of invited guests. Since yours is in March. Most brides who are marrying in that month will be sending int theirs out Nov or Dec. Thats the 3-4 month mark for a March wedding.
Obviously u can do what works for u. But for myself, I have to give my guests more notice.I know some who filled up their October schedules of this year,by early this spring!!! So I need to give these people at least a 8-9 month notice.
Ive been on this website for awhile and thats what I have heard from alot of brides. This timeline:
They send their STD’s 7month’s-1 year
And invites 3-4 months
Hope it works for u. Its fun!

I’m sending mine out this week. I originaly planned to send them out in September or October, but I started getting so many questions from friends and family members about where to make hotel reservations that I decided to get them out sooner. I think it just depends on your guests, though. I have a lot of people coming in from out of town, so they need to make arrangements as early as possible. If a lot of your guests are local then you’ll be just fine sending them out 6 months in advance.

@McVerde: True, overall it all depends on what kind of guests u have.

I’m planning on sending mine out within the next 2-3 weeks. It’ll be 7 months before our wedding. We wanted to send them out a little earlier because we have so many out of state people invited but we’re waiting for our engagement pics back.
