Regardless of your date, save the dates are sent out 6-12 months before your wedding and invies are sent out at 6-8 weeks prior. Rsvps are due back 3-4 weeks before your wedding..

I’d start working on your Save-The-Date Cards now and plan on sending them in Jan or Feb.  We just sent ours this month.

there are general guidelines, but they’re pretty flexible.  for example, with the save the dates, 6 months or longer is the usual lead time, but if most of your guests are in town or won’t have to travel far, you could probably get away with 4-5 months.  for invites, again, i’ve seen ranges from 6 weeks to 3 months–it depends again on a number of factors, including whether your guests will have to travel, and your own planning timeline and when you get around to them!

My wedding is in June and I’m not sending out Save-The-Date Cards till mid-January, mostly because I can’t decide on a design 🙂

I think it just depends. If everyone will have to fly to your location, I’d give plenty of time for them to scout out deals. Since mine is just a few hours drive from most people and I have affordable rooms booked, I don’t feel the need to give more than six months.
