I got my dress about 12 months out.  Dresses can take up to 9 months to come in, so the earlier the better!

Dress shopping was what I was most excited about so I started right away (I had my dress vision – I just had to find it). So I actually got my dress before we even booked our venue. I got it over a year in advance and I’m just going to my fitting this March. lol. I knew what I wanted and the general vision of our wedding so it all worked out for me.

I started dress shopping 12 months out, found my dress within a few weeks. I could have waited but some girls buy their dresses a lot earlier just go when you’re ready! I would say no later than 8 months out though.

Yay another January bride! I ordered my dress last month so 11 months out. I would start looking soon. Most places told me it could take 6-8 months for the dress to come it.

I’d probably start looking soon.  I started shopping in November for my July wedding, so about 8 months out.  Purchased a dress at the end of December, and it arrived only 3 weeks before the wedding.

I started 4.5 months out, but I WISH I had started earlier… Like 8 months to a year out!

Definitely a year or a little less. 7 months is the general timeline of how long it would take to get a dress in, so you want some wiggle room.

I would say no later than 8 month our, unless you have an idea of what you want.  If you want a designer dress then you may need that 8 months.  If you are happy with something from David’s you have more time.  Sometimes you can find off the rack at bridal salons, but it if very dependant.

I would suggest you at least start looking around for where you might shop or look online to find out what you are interested in.

For me I really needed to have this decision made to help with planing, wanting to follow a general feel and mood and a lot of that centered on which dress I ended up with.  You may already know that stuff but I was undecided.

Yeah for Wisconsin!!

I started in November, so 11 months out, but decided on one in December. Glad I did, because my dress won’t be in until July or August, which leaves only 2 or 3 months for alterations. Best bet–leave yourself plenty of time!
