I started last week, don’t plan to get off BC till next month.  Figure I could use the Vitamins anyways won’t hurt.  But I was also advised to start before.  I don’t know what the perfect time is.

grace14:  You should start about 3 months before TTC but being on a multivitamin now wouldn’t hurt!

I’ve already started, but I’ve been off BCP for almost a year. My cycles are irregular and I needed more time to allow my body to regulate. I was told to start 2-3 months before TTC.

I started taking them when I got off birth control.

I got off the pill in June and that’s when I started taking them. It can’t hurt to start now:) I got pregnant in Sept and was glad I  had been taking them for a few months

I’ve been taking them for a year and a half just for the health benefits, but I started taking the ones now that I plan to take while pregnant so I get into the routine. It doesn’t hurt 🙂 And I’m TTC-ing this June.

grace14:  My doctor recommended to start taking prenatals at least a month or two before TTC. She said the folic acid helps to build up the uterine lining more so it’s ready for a fertilized egg to grab onto.

You want to start at least a couple months in advance, but it doesn’t hurt anything to start them now if you want to. But I’ve never found one that doesn’t make me nauseous, so I avoid them until necessary!

Start taking them now – at the very least, your hair and nails will thank you!

It’s best to take them a few months before TTC. I believe folic acid is most important in the first trimester so you want to be on it before you even know you’re pregnant.

grace14:  I also had a hard time taking my regular multivitamins every day, but I switched to gummies last year and it is so much easier to remember and make myself take them when they are chewy! I now have gotten prenatals with dha, but the amounts aren’t that different than my women’s gummies, so I havent switched yet- and I am 3 months preg. The most important thing to have built up in your system is Folic acid/folate because too little of it can cause spine and brain issues when the fetus develops. Current reccomendations are that all women of childbearing age get at least 400 micrograms of folic acid, because its so important and not everyone who becomes pregnant was taking prenatals beforehand, so it is now included in most if not all women’s daily multivitamins.

I have been taking them on and off since like October, but didn’t get really serious about it till  couple of weeks ago.

I started taking them at bedtime. This was the only way I could remember to take it every day.

We plan to start TTC in June but I’ll be getting off birth control in March
