@msbriezyb:  It’s not too early – the only thing I will say is that many photogs include an engagement session in their wedding package.  I definitely encourage everyone to do a session with their wedding photographer before the wedding – it’s a really great way to get to know how your photog and how she/he works, and to feel comfortable in front of the camera.

That being said, if you want to do some photos now as well, why not?  There’s no reason you can’t have more than one session!

I’m getting married in May of 2014.  I will be having out engagement shoot this summer, and sending out Save the Dates in the fall.  Getting engagement pictures done this year will open up all 4 seasons to you.

i don’t think it’s too early. our wedding is June 2014, and we are waiting until like september for our pictures but ONLY because fall is my favorite season, and i really want some professional pictures in fall.  otherwise, i would want to get them done earlier so that i could send out our save the dates a little earlier. ๐Ÿ™‚

As long as you are “engaged” for your “engagement photos”, there is  no such thing as too early or too late. ๐Ÿ™‚

It is not too early but you may want to wait just because as a PP said, they are included in your package often. However, I had mine done because I found someone on craigslist who is switching from commercial photography to people, so he offered to shoot my Fiance and I for free (and it was great!!) E-photos are not a big deal, if you are unhappy with them you can get them re-done (unlike a wedding). So if you do not mind spending money to have them now, there isn’t a reason not to!

Sorry, I voted “yes” but that’s only because your profile lists your wedding as May 2015. 2+ years is too early, IMO, but a little over a year is perfect for trying out the photog!

I don’t think it’s too soon, especially if you need to send Save-The-Date Cards or anything!

I think its the perfect time, if you’re getting married in May. We’re getting married in April and hoping to get them done in a month or two.

@msbriezyb:  Hahaha, my wedding isn’t until June 2015 and I’ve just done one lot of engagement photos with a friend and about to do another lot with a pro photographer. I think it is the perfect way to “test out” a few photographers I like, without the pressure of booking them straight away. Also my Fiance and I have almost no photos together, so I’m taking advantage big time ๐Ÿ˜€
