So i began to look at my budget and my dream of going to Italy is far but not completely out of reach. We’re hoping contirbutions to our honey fund really helps make this a reality, but with the cost of the wedding I really won’t know what we have left over until it’s all said and done. I was thinking of maybe doing a mini getaway to our fave place San Diego or maybe Catalina Island since were getting married in late September and taking our honeymoon in the spring when things warm up again in Europe. This will give us enough time to manage our finances after the wedding and to plan a great trip. Has anyone done this??

That’s a little what we’re planning too. Taking a mini-moon right after the wedding and then taking a longer, “better” honeymoon in the winter when we want to escape a Canadian winter. 🙂

We completely were planning a honeymoon. But we both work freelance. Now that we are getting closer to the date, we may have a conflict.
If I stay on the project I’m on 2000 miles away, I can free myself up to go.
If he goes onto the project he has planned, he might be able to free himself up, but it would me taking off more time than he is comfortable with.
I have a new project on the table that would take me back home, but I would probably not be able to take time off for both honeymoon and wedding.
So we are thinking about a minimoon for the weekend at a hotel maybe Niagara Falls or Montreal. Then do the honeymoon later.

This is more common that you think and a great idea! It’s a great way to spread out your wedding experience. Rather than have it all over in 10 days, you still lhave something to look forward to.

Yeah I still have to break the news to my fiancé. I think he kind of wants to do the traditional thing and go ASAP, but I’m a planner and I’d love to have time to plan and create an itinerary.
