I am trying to finalize the order of the reception. The one thing I can’t decide on, is when to have the Maid/Matron of Honor and the Bridesmaid or Best Man give their toasts. Should I do it before the start of dinner, during (buffet style dinner), or directly after?

we had plated and did it while the salads were out, before the dinner was served – for buffett, i would wait till everyone has their food and is seated.

@totheislnds: We are doing plated and having it while everyone is eating their salad.

We’re doing buffet, and I think we’re going to do it before. That way people aren’t all scattered at the end of dinner, when they’re trying to talk.

We are having our toasts also during the salad course.

I want to do ours during salads. (it’s plated.) I think if you have them before dinner (when nothing is happening) then everyone gets kind of antsy.

My father gave a welcome toast during salad, and the Maid/Matron of Honor and Bridesmaid or Best Man did their toast right after dinner while the cake was being plated.

I think we’ll likely have toasts during salad/appetizer, before the actual dinner begins (also doing buffet.) I recently attended a wedding where only the best man gave a toast and it was literally right after the ourdoor ceremony – they brought glasses of champagne outside and everyone gathered ’round for the toast. It was… different.
