First off, I just found what might be the most incredible discovery ever: a mini-me version of my wedding dress (see pics below!)
The question is, when the heck do I wear it? It is pretty darn close to my real dress and I don’t want to preview too much to the wrong person(s). Possibilities include wearing it to the bridal shower, bachelorette party or rehearsal dinner, but these are all *before* the wedding.
We are having a small-ish ceremony/reception with family and very close friends, so the following day we are having a big casual party in the park the next day for all of our friends. We will be BBQing and have music going, picnic blankets, etc. and it will be BYOB (since technically the park doesn’t allow any liquor.)
Here is the dress I just found:

I’ve been extra careful to buy dresses that are nothing like my wedding dress for all of the wedding pre parties. I voted for the day after celebration. You really don’t want to give anything way before your big day.

It would be nice to wear it out to dinner on your first anniversary as a reminder of your big day. If you can wait that long 🙂
It’s a lovely dress!

Does anyone have to know its a dress that looks like your wedding dress? I would vote wear it for the Rehearsal Dinner if it were me. Or are you going on a honeymoon? Take i to wear to a really nice dinner while there! =) both dresses are really pretty!

OMG. I am wearing the Baklava Modcloth dress at my bridal shower because, like you, my wedding gown has diagonal ruffles! I thought it would be SO cute. I have a feeling the only people that will realize the similarity will be my mom and my sister, so I don’t think it will give away any secrets. I just like personally knowing that I am keeping with a “theme” I guess? I can’t believe you and I had the same idea!!!

PS – I think if it’s at the shower, it’s far enough away from the wedding date that people won’t realize. The rehearsal dinner, however, is a different story.

I think you could wear it to your bachelorette party or the shower before hand because your Fiance won’t be there. It is a super cute dress, but I wouldn’t want my Fiance to see it before hand 🙂 .

Definitely wear it to the BBQ/reception people that were at your wedding will be awestruck wondering how the heck you had your wedding gown altered so quickly. What a great find!

@blonshky: That is incredible. Have you tried it on yet? I just ordered it and am hoping it fits well!!
@Leonard2B: What a great idea – I will definitely bring it with me on my honeymoon.
To the other bees: I would love to wear this to the day-after party in the park but I’m afraid that it’s too dressy for such a casual event – think I could rock this dress over a pair of leggings (or opaque tights?) I’ll be sitting on a picnic blanket and don’t feel like flashing everyone 🙂

You’re not “giving away” what your dress looks like if you wear it before the ceremony, since you wont be broadcasting that your dress looks similar. I think it’s fine, and you are overthinking this! It’s so cute – wear it before the wedding!
