What do they want to know?! Now that we are looking into photographers, DOC, etc. several vendors we’ve met with have said “tell me about your wedding” and I am not sure how to answer this. How do you answer?

I told them my venue, time of year, general look/feel I was going for and color scheme. Some vendors want to hear about your dress (i.e. florist).

Definitely if there’s a vibe/theme you’re going for, time of year, venue, any restrictions on the site, start time, colours, etc. If you’re at the starting point and are a blank slate, you could just say that and that you’d appreciate their input as a professional 🙂

We ususally started with the feel we wanted.
Example: We want a lively and nice fall wedding (but not too formal ) wedding. Around 200 people. With lots of color and music. We will do some of the traditional things but not all. We envision being married outside with a night followed by dinner and drinks and dancing. We want a casual atmosphere where people can relax and have fun but we still want it to feel like a nice wedding. We are also going for a jewel tone wedding theme.
That is about what we said when our vendors asked and they all seemed to get a feel for what we wanted.
You and your fiance should just talk about the key things that are most important to you. Do you want a black tie feeling? Completly casual? Somewhere in the middle? Do you picture it being a grand party with fancy entrances and shows or something more personal and intimate. Will there be 50 people or 500. All little details like that can really give your vendors a feel for what you want.
